Excavation & Concrete Blinding
A large-scale excavation was completed in Devon to support substation plinth construction. The formation was dug to required depth and width, with all underground services located and protected throughout the process. Once complete, a clean layer of concrete blinding was laid to create a level, stable base ready for the next phase. This stage reflects the focus on precise groundwork, site safety, and long-term structural reliability.

Letterbox & Ducting
Shuttering has been completed, with all required features built in for the substation plinth. Openings for the letterbox and ducting have been set out and shaped to match design layouts, allowing for future service access. Inside the formwork, steel reinforcement has been fixed and spaced to meet structural load requirements. All components have been checked for alignment and positioning, with the site now prepared for the concrete pour.

Earthing
With curing complete, the shuttering has been removed to reveal a well-formed plinth. Temporary earth supports have also been cleared, opening full access around the structure. Earthing cables have been installed on a sand bed to protect against damage and ensure correct alignment. All work follows electrical design and safety requirements, setting the groundwork for the final phase of the substation build.

Shuttering Construction
A substantial shuttering structure has been assembled within the excavation, forming the mould for the substation plinth. Built to precise measurements, it has been reinforced to maintain shape and hold firm during the concrete pour. Openings for ducts and service entries have been accurately set into place, ready to receive future cabling and connections. The layout follows the project design exactly, ensuring the build stays on track and to spec.

Concrete Curing
Concrete has been poured into the prepared shuttering, fully encasing the reinforcement and forming around all service openings. The surface was levelled and finished to match project specifications, meeting both structural and design standards. Curing is now underway, with measures in place to control setting and support strength gain. The plinth is now fully formed, marking clear progress in the build.

Concrete Plinth
The plinth is now complete, providing a level and durable base for the incoming substation equipment. A letterbox opening has been accurately formed for routing cables and connections, built to exact dimensions. The surface is clean and smooth, finished to match the specification. Final ground preparation around the structure is underway, paving the way for the last stage of installation..
