Yorkshire

Groundwork

In Yorkshire, precise excavation was carried out to establish a stable foundation for the substation plinth. The site was carefully levelled and compacted using appropriate equipment to ensure a solid base for subsequent construction activities.

Shuttering Construction

Shuttering was built to form the shape and boundaries of the plinth, holding the concrete in place during the pour. Timber formwork was measured and fixed to match exact design dimensions, ensuring clean edges and consistent levels. This temporary structure is essential for supporting the wet concrete and reinforcing steel until the material sets and gains strength.

Concrete

Concrete has been poured into the formwork, filling all sections around the reinforcement and embedded service routes. The mix was placed methodically to avoid voids and ensure full structural contact. Once filled, the surface was levelled and finished to meet design tolerance. The curing process is now underway, with protective measures in place to support proper setting and long-term strength development, moving the build firmly into its next phase.

Ground Compaction

The prepared ground underwent thorough compaction to achieve the necessary density and stability. This process ensured a uniform surface, reducing the risk of future settlement and providing a reliable base for the plinth construction.

Steelwork

Inside the formwork, steel reinforcement has been fixed in position, tied securely to ensure load distribution and structural strength. The formwork has been braced and supported to withstand the pressure of the upcoming concrete pour. With preparation finished, the site is ready for the next stage—setting the structural foundation in place.

Sub-station Plinth

The concrete has fully cured, creating a strong and well-formed substation plinth. With the structure set, shuttering has been removed to reveal clean lines and accurate detailing. Attention has now shifted to the surrounding area, where ground levels are being adjusted and the site cleared in preparation for the next phase. Each step is completed to specification, maintaining steady progress and a high standard of workmanship.
